His extraordinary life is interwoven with the birth of our nation and its unique character. “America’s Humble Servant” is a series of three monologue stage productions: (1) The Road To The Declaration, (2) The Road To Victory, and (3) The Road To The Constitution that engages the audience in Ben’s witty recollection and historical commentary on his life’s important events as well as the critical historical events in the formation of the United States of America. The priority of each production is the historically accurate representation of these memorable events that fashioned America’s formation and spirit through a realistic “visit” with America’s most intriguing founding father, Dr. Benjamin Franklin. Experience history come alive and gain fresh perspectives on what makes us and our nation uniquely American.

The Road To The Declaration reflects on the early years of Franklin’s life and his vast accomplishments through that historic day in 1776 when he and other Continental Congressional delegates declared these “truths to be self-evident.” and began the independent American journey for “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

The Road To Victory reflects on the days from 1776 through the conclusion of the Revolutionary War and Franklin’s experiences including his year in Paris as American diplomat, peace negotiator, public celebrity and enlightened philosopher.

The Road To The Constitution reflects on the days from Franklin’s return from France to his new fledgling and struggling country as the sage of American Spirit and political practice, his participation in the formation of the new Republic’s constitution in his hometown of Philadelphia through his final mortal days on this earth.

His journey began out of a desire to "spark" the interest of students in learning history and the founding of our extraordinary nation and developed into a passion to inform and rekindle our founder's spirit in today's Americans. This drive has resulted in years of research, study and reading of original writings and collecting colonial and revolutionary period items that bring an informed historic realism to the portrayal of America's Humble Servant, B. Franklin.

Mark Spoon is a screenwriter and playwright with a passionate focus on historical storytelling. His most recent miniseries film script, “Sons of Courage” was a second rounder in the Austin Film Festival in 2021, a quarterfinalist at the Filmmatic Inroads Fellowship and a semifinalist for the SWN Goldman Award.  This script is now under consideration by a major film producer.  His “Franklin” stage play series is a labor of love and a walk through the fertile mind of our famous founding father, Benjamin Franklin.
